Snapped these on Sunday. Looks like G30 5 Series and the tailpipes, bumpers, and shadowline trim would indicate an M5. Wheels look like they could be off a last-gen M5 too.
It was very quiet though, even quieter than the F10 M5 in comfort mode under normal driving I’d say.
I suppose they’re trying to test it in its natural environment. There was a lovely navy blue 280SL Pagoda and a new brown Bentley GTC like a block from there too.

Is it me or does it look smaller? That Leaf looks huge next to it.

Ha, natural habitat indeed. Union & Fillmore? Gamine, next to that sofa place, was my wife’s favorite restaurant in the whole city when we lived out there.
There was also a guy who would routinely street park his Z8 on Green St. where my wife lived before we moved in together.

I have seen several camo’d cars here over the years, I saw Bentaygas with crazy decals meant to confuse cameras etc..

I think the Nissan Leaf is actually taller than the current 5 Series. I’ve been in one and the Leaf definitely isn’t as small as it looks in most pictures.

Gamine is good. I also go to Pane e Vino a lot which is at Gough and Union.
There’s a deep red Ferrari F12 that’s parked in front of Rose’s Cafe occasionally these days, so that’s cool. I haven’t seen a Z8 in the city for ages though; I think a lot of those have been parked in garages to appreciate.

Everything points to M5 except the noise. It was disappointedly quiet.
I’ve driven the F10 M5 and been beside them and this was way quieter than the F10.

Yeah, I’ve seen quite a few GM and Ford camouflaged cars around as well as German manufacturers.
There was a non-camo’d Bentayga on manufacturer plates parked down the street from my house once months before it officially went on sale.
About a year ago, I even saw some sort of Cadillac with Lidar on the top in a convoy with two Chevy Bolts.
Never used to see anything like that 10 years ago, it’s really all been in the last 5 years, especially since a bunch of auto companies have set up research and development facilities in the Bay Area.
Also this is more expected, but I even saw a non-camoflaged Tesla model 3 in the mountains on the peninsula a couple months ago. I was on a drive with some buddies going [redacted] mph in the other direction from it so we didn’t turn around to follow it and take a look though.

Oh man, I used to love Pane e Vino - they made some great pizza and the staff there was always super fun. Haven’t been there in many years.

The f10 is probably the quietest M5 that has existed...
